Pools in Alpharetta

Alpharetta built out in two waves. The first, in the 1980s and 1990s, produced the large swim-and-tennis subdivisions along Windward Parkway, Haynes Bridge, and Kimball Bridge, many with two or three bodies of water and a serious swim-team culture. The second, over the last fifteen years, added the apartment and mixed-use communities around Avalon, downtown Alpharetta, and the tech corridor along Old Milton Parkway, where the pool is a leasing amenity with a heavy weekend load.

The older pools are the ones that need foresight. Original pumps have been replaced once already; the plaster is on its second life; the heaters are at the age where they cycle more than they used to. We put every one of these pools on real-time monitoring so a filter pressure that has been creeping for three weeks is caught before it becomes a Saturday closure. The newer apartment pools need the opposite: chemistry that keeps up with a bather load the pool was not sized for, held by the controller between visits.

Working around the swim leagues

Alpharetta neighborhoods take summer swim seriously. Practices start in late May, meets run through July, and a home meet can put two hundred swimmers and their families at the pool on a Saturday morning. We set the visit cadence for June and July around the team calendar and open the season with stabilizer, calcium, and the filter already where they need to be.

Inspections in Fulton County

Alpharetta pools are inspected by the Fulton County Board of Health under Georgia DPH Chapter 511-3-5, at least once a season for seasonal pools and twice a year for year-round ones. Fulton also responds to complaints, and an apartment pool with a leasing office gets more of those than an HOA. We keep the log book current and the records complete so a complaint visit finds nothing to write up.
